On my old 1985 4-Runner I always had exhaust leaks every two years because the muffler would rought and she would still start right away. I don't have a timing light but would have to get one to rule out timing.Here we have MVI (motor vehicle inspections) once a year and it's essential that there are no exhaust leaks.

So could my timing be off? or fuel pressure regulator be bad? or gas filler neck rusted off be the culprit?.Thanks.
